NEW YORK -- The Texas Ramblers' QB was a landslide winner Friday in balloting by a nationwide panel of 50 sports writers and broadcasters who cover the league. Calder won the MVP award by amassing season totals of 284/450, 4347 yds, 30 TD.

"I really accept this award on behalf of the team and the organization because there is no way I would have accomplished this much without everyone creating a winning environment," Calder said after receiving the award.

NEW YORK -- In his own view, Kevin Cousineau put together his best professional season in 2018. How appropriate, then, that he is The Associated Press 2018 Defensive Player of the Year.

The versatile Cousineau had 182 tackles, 24 sacks, 0 interceptions, and 0 forced fumbles with 0 defensive touchdowns, and was a key to the Ramblers' turnaround on defense. His role on the defense earned Cousineau a majority of votes Tuesday from a nationwide panel of 50 sports writers and broadcasters who cover the league.

Texas Ramblers quarterback Andrew Calder is Sporting News' Offensive Player of the Year, as selected by a panel of 636 players, coaches and executives.

Calder received 299 first-place votes from the 583 players polled.
